Alice V. Pethke

Alice V. Pethke (nee Suehring) found peace on June 29, 2012, at age 88. She was born in the Township of Grant on June 13, 1924, the daughter of the late Frederick and Lydia (Hass) Suehring. Alice was a long time resident with her husband, Alvin, on a farm outside of Manawa, Wis. Alice was an excellent cook and baker who also enjoyed quilting and flower gardening. Her many large and diverse flower gardens were beautiful to see in any season. Alice and Alvin traveled to many interesting places, including parts of Europe while making numerous happy memories. Alice is survived by her loving husband, Alvin; five children: Shirley Beck, Alvin Jr. (Linda), Jane Fischer (Alan), Robert (Darlene), and Diane Rivers (Dave); grandchildren: Lori, Paul, Jon, Kyle and Errin; and six wonderful great-grandchildren. She is further survived by a brother, Kenneth (Dorothy) Suehring; and sisters, Beatrice (Mike) Moede and Betty (Ben) Rindt. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Herbert Suehring; and sisters, Gertrude Breitenfeldt, Leona Krasin and Velma Pringnitz. A funeral service for Alice will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 157 N. Bridge St., Manawa, with Pastor Thomas Theama officiating. Family and friends may call at Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home, Manawa, on Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Tuesday morning directly at church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Symco, Wis. The family would like to thank Patti and the staff at Grand Horizons as well Southern Care Hospice for the phenomenal care Alice received. The family would also like to extend appreciation to Pastor Tom Theama and the women of the Ladies Aid Society at Zion Lutheran Church.
