Alvin W. Pethke

Alvin William Pethke, age 89, passed away on January 2, 2014. He was born February 28, 1924, the son of William and Anna Pethke. Alvin was a longtime resident with his late wife, Alice, on a dairy farm outside of Manawa, Wisconsin. Alvin worked the farm and also a full time job for many years at the Four Wheel Drive in Clintonville. Alvin was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved baseball and was an enthusiastic fan of the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed travelling and spending time with his grandchildren. Alvin and Alice were members of Zion Lutheran Church, Manawa. Alvin is survived by five children: Shirley Beck, Alvin Jr. (Linda), Jane Fischer (Alan), Robert (Darlene) and Diane Rivers (Dave); grandchildren: Lori Pennings (Ken), Paul, Jon, Kyle (Brooke) and Errin Garcia (Ulises) and six wonderful great-grandchildren. He is further survived by sister Ruby Piotter and brothers, Melvin, Arthur (Ardella), Walter (Elaine) and Marvin (June). In addition, he is survived by many nieces and nephews. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; sister Edna and brothers Erwin, William Jr., and Edwin. The funeral service for Alvin will be held on Monday, January 6, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Manawa with Rev. Thomas Theama and Rev. Vilas Mazemke officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Symco. A visitation for Alvin will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2014 from noon-3 p.m. at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Manawa and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials to Zion Lutheran Church, Manawa are preferred. The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Grand Horizons for all their care and support.
