Listen to Obituary

Arne Glen Poehlman, age 76, Weyauwega, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah on August 6, 2026, as a result of an accident at his home. Arne was born on March 5, 1950, to Irl and Eleanor (Johnson) Poehlman of rural New London. He graduated from Manawa High School in 1969. He then went on to attend University of Wisconsin Madison completing their short term agricultural course and was an active member of the Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association. He married Kathryn Mentzel in 1980, together they welcomed three children and later divorced. He met Marion Zarling and spent the next 26 years with her until she passed. In 2022 he met Rebecca Haugo-Schulthess and cherished four wonderful years together. Arne began his trucking career driving milk tanker, then working for his brother's oil company driving fuel truck. He later started his own trucking company, POCOCO Inc. Throughout his career, he delivered campers around the country, and retired after driving a medical transport van. His lifelong passion for trucking was reflected in the work he chose and the pride he took in it.

Arne enjoyed many hobbies and interests throughout his life. He was a member since 1977 of the AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association) and had recently returned to his love of flying. He was taking flight training to regain his pilot's license. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed farming, gardening, cutting wood, or simply tinkering around outside and working on various projects. He was an avid collector of "treasures" and could always see value where others saw junk. He was never at a loss for words and enjoyed sharing his jokes and stories with friends, family or anyone that would listen. Arne was also a lifelong member of the Royalton Christian Church. He had a love for his country and enjoyed exploring its beauty with loved ones.

Arne is survived by his loving partner: Rebecca Haugo-Schulthess, Weyauwega; his children: Glen (Deanna) Poehlman, Waupaca; Dan (Carrie) Poehlman, Iola; Pamela (Roberto) Alameda, Nekoosa; adopted daughter, Michele (Ray) Sommer, Oxford; his seven grandchildren: Levi Poehlman, Tyler Poehlman, Preston Poehlman, Parker Poehlman, Joey Alameda, Adam Alameda, Pheonix Alameda; seven siblings: Lee (Mary Kay) Poehlman, Waupaca; Ella Wegener, Manawa; Allie (Jerry) Hammond, Madison; Doris (LaVerne) Damrau, Amherst; Nancy Larson, Baraboo; Kay (Calvin) Dailey, Colorado Springs, CO; Wendy (Jack) O'Brien, Manawa plus many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
