Barbara McCandless

Barbel (Barbara) McCandless (nee Doster) 1947-2023

She was born in Goppingen Germany in 1947 to Juliane Emilie GeiBe and Walter Doster. She was a very social, high-spirited, adventurous person who loved dogs, wolves, handcrafted items, German food and being with her friends. She worked as a nursing assistant for many years in a variety of settings. She married Sgt. Richard C. McCandless and immigrated to the United States in 1974. Upon his passing, Barbara reared her five boys single-handedly

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, her son David and her granddaughter Brittany. She is survived by four sons - Frank McCandless (Ann), Michael McCandless, Dale McCandless and Mark McCandless (Monica Gruse); three brothers - Reiner Doster, Hansel Doster, Jurgen Doster; and one sister, Ilse Habelsperger. In addition, she is survived by numerous grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Cremation will take place at Dahlke Funeral & Cremation Care in Weyauwega. The graveside burial will be held at Highland Memorial in Appleton on a future date.
