Daniel George Radtke, 76, died in his home in early June.
Dan was an extremely kindhearted man who tried to find the best in all people. He was resilient and persevered through many challenges. Honesty and fairness were embedded in his soul, and guided many of his relationships and interactions with people.
Dan based his entire life in the New London / Weyauwega area. He attended the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and served his country with honor. He was hard working and owned his own yard maintenance business for many years. He served his customers with the same values he lived, and often struggled to adjust his prices consistent with the times, knowing that others were struggling. Asking for help was difficult for him.
Dan lived in a home he enjoyed tending along with the adjacent land that provided him firewood to heat his house, and many hours of immersion in the beauty of nature. Though he grew up in a hunting family, he personally chose to refrain from killing the deer and other wildlife that populated the woods (and ate his gardens).
While Dan never subscribed to the internet, social media, or cable tv, he kept up with the world around him, forming his own opinions.
He is survived by his sister, Cherrie Radtke Waxman, and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. His parents, Don Radtke, Dolores Radtke, and sister Marcia Rhone predeceased him.
While Dan was not a church person, he did maintain his faith and Christian values throughout his life. A funeral service for Dan will be held at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. William Heiges officiating. Burial will be in Hobart Cemetery, Town of Royalton. A visitation for Dan will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. If you wish to honor Dan, please donate to charities whose values you might share with him, and by living with kindness and tolerance of others.
