Della E. Johnson

Age 86, died Saturday September 16, 2006 at the Weyauwega Health Care Center. She was born on August 10, 1920 in Weyauwega, daughter of the late Charles & Clara (Long) Wilcox. In 1938, she married Gerald E. Quimby. They divorced and in 1947 she married Charles Johnson. They both preceded her in death. Della lived most of her life in the Weyauwega area. Over the years, Della and Charles cared for 56 foster children adopting Gregory C. Johnson and providing a home for permanent foster son Kenneth L. Johnson. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Waupaca. She is survived by a daughter: Geraldine Utschig, Weyauwega; two sons: Howard D. Quimby, Weyauwega; Gregory C. Johnson, Wittenberg; a foster son: Kenneth L. Johnson, Weyauwega; nine grandchildren: Daniel (Rita) Bucholtz, Dale; Todd (Terrie) Bucholtz, Amherst; Tammy (Don) Pariseau, Lake Orion, MI; Bryan (Christine) Utschig, U.S Army, Valsak, Germany; Sabrina Johnson, New Hampshire; Elizabeth Tease, Waupaca; Gregory Charles Johnson Jr., Fountain City; Sakara Johnson, Wittenberg; Dakota Johnson, Wittenberg; 10 great grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant daughter Karen, a brother Lester Wilcox, a half-sister Emily, and a son-in-law Larry Utschig, a great granddaughter, Abby. The funeral for Della will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday September 21, 2006 at First Baptist Church, 1500 Roman Rd., Waupaca, WI with Rev. Leon Leeds and Rev. Larry Gross officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Weyauwega. Friends may call at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Weyauwega from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday and at the church on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund had been established.
