Age 89, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, February 20, 2013. She was born on March 20, 1923 in Anniston, Missouri, daughter of the late Enos and Margaret (Hyde) Guill. Edna was raised in Herrin, Illinois until she was about 6 years old. She then moved to Franklin Park, Illinois an industrial suburb of Chicago. She graduated from the 8th grade at Main School in Chicago. Her father passed away at age 57, so after grade school she sought work to help her mother make ends meet working at various businesses over the years. On July 2, 1942 she married Lawrence A. Schuelke. The family lived in Franklin Park until 1977 or 1978 when Lawrence and Edna retired and moved to Clintonville, where they built a house on the river and enjoyed gardening and fishing. In 1986 they moved to Symco, where they remodeled a home. They lived there until December, 1998, when they sold their home and moved in to Collonade Apartments in New London. On May 2, 1999 Lawrence preceded her in death. On December 2009, Edna and her son Tom moved into a home that they built near Northport. Edna enjoyed fishing, crocheting, playing cards and other games including bingo, flower and vegetable gardening, and visiting with family, friends and neighbors. Her favorite actors were John Wayne, Robert Redford, and Robert Mitchum to name a few. Her favorite color was blue. Her favorite flower cut was a carnation. She is survived by her children: Lois Jorgenson, David and Celeste, Lawrence A. Schuelke and his friend Maxine, Joyce (Daniel) Wiese, Edwin D. Schuelke, and Thomas J. Schuelke; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother Enos H. Guill III; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, grandson, Michael J. Smith, son-in-law: Jim Jorgenson; daughter-in-law Carol Schuelke; sister Rosella Vaughn; ½ brothers: James Macmillan, Arnold Guill and Eugene Guill; and a ½ sister: Thelma Laing. The funeral service for Edna will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Symco with Pastor Jeffrey Smiles officiating. Burial will be in Little Creek Cemetery, Town of Little Wolf. A visitation for Edna will be held directly at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
