Fern E. Hanson
Age 101, of New London, formerly of Manawa, went to her heavenly home, where the Lord granted her wish to join her husband Art, on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at St. Joseph Residence in New London. She was born on December 21, 1915 in Ellsworth, daughter of the late Adolph and Alma (Wahl) Peterson. Fern was a clerk for 21 years at the Piotter’s store in Manawa. She was also a nurse’s aid at the Veteran’s home in King for 13 years before retiring. Fern loved to spend time with family and friends. She was quite witty and was always ready to play cards and other games. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Manawa.
She is survived by her sons: Jerry (Joan) Hanson and their children, Scott (Angie) and Mark (Amber) of Fond du Lac; David (Karen) Hanson and their children: David Jr. (Leah), Jeffrey (Kathleen), and Tracy (Ryan) Briggs, Menasha; five great-grandsons: Devon, Gunnar, Brandon, Tyler and Levi; three great-granddaughters: Kayla, Amanda and Samantha; a brother: Arnie Peterson, Florida; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Arthur and 12 siblings.
The funeral service for Fern will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Manawa with Rev. Vilas Mazemke officiating. Burial will be in Little Wolf Cemetery, Town of Little Wolf. A visitation for Fern will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
