Gary Lukowski

Gary Lukowski, age 79, passed away peacefully at his home in Big Falls, WI on November 10, 2023. He was born on February 13, 1944, on the military base Ft Blanding Florida, son of the late Walter and Maisel Lukowski. He grew up in various states where his father served in the Army. He graduated from Rhinelander Union High School and entered the US Navy. After proudly serving 7 years in the Navy as a Nuclear Sub Sailor, Gary went on to serve an additional 16 years as a Combat Engineer with the Rhinelander National Guard. During Gary's time in the service, he was awarded 11 metals, ribbons, and badges.

Gary enjoyed his retirement traveling with his wife Cheryl to the bases he served on. His favorite spot was Cocoa Beach, Florida. He also enjoyed the Denver Broncos and entertaining family and friends at his home in Big Falls, WI, as well as Key West, Florida.

He was preceded in death by parents, Walter and Maisel Lukowski and brother, LeRoy. He is mourned by his loving wife, Cheryl; 8 children: Mary Jo (Herb) Townsend, Steven (Tiffany) Lukowski, Heather (Brian) Hermann, Chris (Stephanie) Norton, Kenny (Janine) Norton, Cassandra (Travis) Beyersdorf, Kelly (Willie) Norton, Curt (Jennifer) Norton; numerous grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; brothers: Wallace (Susan), Ivan (Susan); sister, Joyce (Dale) Elliott.

The Celebration of Life for Gary will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023, starting at 11:30am with a service at noon. The celebration will continue after the service until 2:00pm. The address for the Celebration of Life is N8693 County Road G, Iola, WI 54945.
