Gladys Lou (Korth) Scheller, age 87, of Manawa, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. She was born in New London on February 8, 1938 to the late Alfred and Elnora (Popke) Korth.
Gladys was baptized on March 27, 1938, and confirmed at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London in 1952 by Pastor Walter Pankow.
She lived in New London and attended the one room school house called Golden Hill Country School. In 1956, Gladys graduated from Washington High. She worked at the Edison and AAL. On August 10, 1957, Gladys married Grant Scheller. They moved to Manawa on November 1, 1969 to farm and haul cattle.
There were many things that Gladys loved. Most of all, she loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchild. She also loved cooking, sewing, gardening, church choir, walking, decorating cakes, church, volunteering at Lambeau Field, The Performing Arts Center, working in the gift shop at New London Hospital, being a teacher's aide at St. Paul Lutheran School, and 4-H volunteer and leader. She was especially proud of the fact she donated 11 gallons of blood to the Red Cross.
Gladys is survived by her children: Tim Scheller, Bruce (Jennifer) Scheller, John (Julie) Diermeier, Louisa (Craig) Schefe; her grandchildren: Danielle (Seth) Harmadi, Brianne (Stephen) Martin, Ian Diermeier, Brandon Scheller, David Scheller, Andrew Scheller, Jacob Scheller, and Shelby Schefe; step grandchild: Carly Diermeier; great grandchild: Sebastien Martin; brothers: Dalton (Lucina) Korth, Dwight (Arlene) Korth; sister, Audrey (Jerry) Brown; sisters-in-law: Judy Korth, Joy Freeman, Rae Mona Preece, and Dorothy Scheller; godchildren: Dwight Korth, Todd Close, Gwinette Zielke, Ron Scheller, Junel Korth, Nasette Martin, Kevin Korth, Aaron Stroud, and Benjamin Korth.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grant Scheller; children: Denece Diermeier and Terry Scheller; sister and brother-in-law, Ron and Marilyn Stroud; brother, Karl Korth; mother-in-law, Sadie VanVorst; special friend, Hugh Samson; daughter-in-law, Celvee Scheller; sisters-in-law: June Lefeber, Lois Linde; godchild, Ricky Baehman.
The Memorial Service that will celebrate Gladys' life will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa with Rev. Nathan Reichle officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in New Maple Creek Cemetery, Town of Maple Creek, Outagamie County. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church or School.
