James Larsen

February 12, 1947 — August 19, 2006

Age 59, of Weyauwega passed away Saturday August 19, 2006 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. He was born February 12, 1947 in Iola son of the late Oliver and Vera (Kienitz) Larsen. Jim lived in Manawa with his parents until moving to Weyauwega. He attended Weyauwega-Fremont High School. He worked in construction several years. He was in the U.S. Army 1966-1968 and served in Vietnam. After being discharged from the Army he continued in the construction business several years before joining his father in the scrap metal business eventually becoming sole owner of J.R. Larsen Co. Inc. Jim never considered his business to be a job because he thoroughly enjoyed what he was doing. On October 12, 1974 Jim married Gloria Raprager at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Weyauwega. Jim also loved spending time with his family. He was actively involved in his church and community. Jim is survived by his wife Gloria; his son Reuben Larsen and Marcie; three brothers: Gerald "Ben" Larsen, Bowie, TX; Jack Larsen and Sue, Springfield, IL; Joel Larsen, Weyauwega; a sister: Wilma (Lester) Hopp, Wisconsin; his father-in-law: Albert Vercauteren, Weyauwega; other relatives and many close friends he considered to be family. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryle and mother-in-law, Winnie. The funeral service for Jim will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday August 24, 2006 at Hope United Church of Christ 9315 Cty Rd. H, Fremont, WI. with Rev. Alex Tychkin officiating. Burial will be in Evanswood Cemetery in the Town of Weyauwega. Friends may call at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Weyauwega from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Graveside Military Honors will be conducted by Arndt-Bruley American Legion Post 176 of Weyauwega.
