James Schulke

July 11, 1955 — September 12, 2006

Age 51, of Manawa, died on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at New London Family Medical Center. He was born on July 11, 1955 in Stevens Point, son of Edwin & Dorothy (Thompson) Schulke. On April 22, 1978 he married Karen Johnson at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Symco. Jim graduated from Little Wolf High School with the Class of 1973. Jim worked at Trade Winds for a short time and also helped his dad with farming. In 1978, he started working at Hillshire Farm until failing health caused him to retire in 1993. He was a member of the Independent Employees Union at Hillshire Farm. He presently worked part-time at Block's Auto Sales in Ogdensburg. He was a former member of the Union Town Board, the Town of Union Fire Department and First Responders, and also was the former president of the Manawa Dart League. Jim was the sexton at Union Cemetery for many years. Jim was also very active in the Union Threshermen. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Symco. Jim enjoyed watching his sons be involved in tractor pulls, and also being with his family at his cabin. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid Packer and Nascar fan. He is survived by his wife Karen; his mother Dorothy Schulke, New London; his children: Stacey (Bill) Hoernke, Northport; Aaron (Lynette) Schulke, and their children Bryce and Brystal, Clintonville; Travis Schulke and his fiancé Malia, Manawa; Nicole Schulke and special friend Ryan, and her children Serena and Ethan; Tyler Schulke and special friend Jolene, Manawa, a sister in-law Cheryl Schulke, Corpus Christi, TX. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends further survive him. His father, a brother Larry, a sister Shirley, a grandson Trevor and his maternal and paternal grandparents preceded him in death. The funeral service for Jim that will celebrate his life will be held on Friday, September 15, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Symco with Rev. Jeffrey Smiles officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in the Town of Union. Friends may call at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Manawa on Thursday, September 14, 2006 from 4-8 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
