Janice Wichmann

March 1, 1940 — October 2, 2025

Janice Ruth Wichmann, 85, of Weyauwega, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 2, 2025, following a period of declining health, after a day filled with visits from many beloved family and friends.

Janice was born on March 1, 1940 in Weyauwega, WI, the daughter of Louis and Lydia (Kapitzke) Bauer. She graduated from Little Wolf High School in 1958. She married the love of her life, Arlo on March 23, 1963. They were happily married for over 53 years until Arlo's death in 2016. She missed him dearly.

Janice spent over 50 years dairy farming alongside her husband, Arlo, and together they proudly hosted the Weyauwega-Fremont FFA Breakfast on the Farm in 2000. Deeply rooted in her community, Janice served as the General Leader of the Baldwins Mill 4-H Club during the years her children were involved, and taught Sunday School for many years. She also drove school bus for the Weyauwega-Fremont School District for many years-a role she enjoyed so much that, after retiring from milking cows, she convinced Arlo to join her behind the wheel.

Janice cherished Sunday road trips with Arlo, the fellowship she found at St. John's Church before becoming homebound, and celebrating holidays surrounded by family. She loved connecting with her many friends and never missed a chance to playfully tease those closest to her. Just hours before her passing, Janice spoke with a smile about wanting to play canasta in heaven, a beloved New Year's tradition she had shared with friends for many years.

Janice is survived by her four daughters: Jane (Rick) Olson of New London, Lisa (Paul) Dailey of Weyauwega, Erin Wichmann of Green Bay, and Sara (Erik) Wagner of Waupaca. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Brooke and Courtney Olson; Jordan, Lauren (Kyle) Flease, Kirsten (Nate Volz), and McKenna Dailey; and Theo Wichmann. Janice was further blessed with two great-grandchildren, Allison and Declan Flease. Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Wilma Towne, many nieces and nephews, close friends and her beloved dog, Bentley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlo, and her parents.

The funeral service for Janice will start at 11 am on Tuesday, October 7th, 2025 at St. John's Lutheran Church located at N3882 County Hwy KK, Weyauwega, WI 54983 with visitation at the church from 9:00 AM - 10:45 AM. Burial will follow the memorial service at Baldwins Mill Cemetery, Township of Royalton.

The family would like to thank Trinity Terrace Assisted Living in New London and St. Croix Hospice. They would also like to give a special thanks to Pastor Al and Bonnie Moen and Chaplin Joe from St. Croix.
