Obituary

Jay Dean Curtiss, age 56, was called to his heavenly home on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. He was born on March 25, 1969, in New London, Wisconsin, to Donald Curtiss and Dorothy (Nitzske) Curtiss.

Jay was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Shiocton. He attended Fox Valley Lutheran High School and was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenville.

Family and friends remember Jay for his love of hunting, fishing, and running. An avid runner, he found both joy and purpose on the open road, approaching life with determination and heart. Running was more than a hobby for Jay-it was part of who Jay was, shaping the way he lived with quiet strength and perseverance. He competed in numerous triathlons and marathons across the country, and the discipline he demonstrated in those races reflected the way he lived his life and practiced his faith.

Jay ran with Jesus here on earth, and now he has crossed the finish line into eternity. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith" (2 Timothy 4:7). Today, Jay rests securely in God's hands, hearing the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant" (Matthew 25:21).

Rejoicing in Jay's heavenly homecoming are his mother, Dorothy Curtiss; his siblings, Sonya (Mark) Voight, Shelley (James) Brown, Sharla (Steve) Jens, Sandy (Jim) Buman, and Stacey (Randy) Cupery; along with many loving nieces, nephews, and great-nieces, great-nephews, and loyal friends.

Jay was preceded in death by his father, Donald Curtiss, and his great-nephew, Warren Klockziem.

Jay was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and the running community who knew him.

Private funeral services for Jay will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenville.

A special thank you to the Peabody Manor at Pine Creek, the Hospice Care Team, and the Appleton ThedaCare Regional Medical Center for their compassionate and wonderful care to Jay.
