Jay Brian Schimke

Jay Brian Schimke, age 68, passed away peacefully on August 28th 2026 at his home.

Jay was a man who loved working with his hands. He was happiest in the garage alongside his son Andy, tinkering and fixing whatever needed a tune-up or a bit of grease. Outside of the garage, Jay's greatest joy was spending quality time with his grandson, Victor.

Jay is survived by his son, Andy (Kelley Gensler) Schimke; Andy's mother, Carol (Bruce) Glocke; his beloved grandson, Victor Schimke; sister, Sue (Jim) Krause; brother, Lee Schimke; and his special friends Kathy Dunihoo and Rick and Penny Madson. He is also survived by several nephews and one niece, extended family members, and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Irene (Peterson) Schimke; sister, Lori Schimke; and brother, Steve Schimke.

Per Jay's requests, no formal service will take place. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you spend an afternoon working on a project with someone you love or simply sharing a good story in his memory.
