Jerald "Jerry" P. Hurst, age 74, of Weyauwega, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025, after a courageous battle with illness. He was born on January 10, 1951, in Kaukauna, son of the late Floyd and Norine (Vandenberg) Hurst. Jerry lived a life marked by service, creativity, and deep devotion to his family and community.
Jerry dedicated many years to Electrical Maintenance at the Waupaca Foundry where his skill and reliability were highly valued. In addition to his work there, he also served as an EMT in Weyauwega, offering care and support to those in need with quiet strength and compassion.
A man of many talents and interests, Jerry was a proud member of the Waupaca Community Theatre, where he shared his love of storytelling and performance. He was actively involved in the life of First Presbyterian Church, living his faith through action and fellowship. He found joy in woodworking and drawing - hobbies that reflected his patient, creative spirit - and was always happiest when entertaining or spending time with those he loved.
Jerry's greatest joy came from his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Melody; his children: Adam Hurst and Amy (Reggie Kempf) Hurst; grandchildren: Jordan Johnson and Tyler (Brooke Hills) Johnson; great grandchildren: James and Henley. He is also survived by his brother, Tom (Kleo Kritz) Hurst, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss his warmth, humor, and generous heart.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Wilbert and Evalyn Courchaine; sister-in-law, Michele Malinski; brother-in-law, Stuart Courchaine; and a niece, Jill Hanson.
Jerry's legacy is one of service, creativity, and love. His presence will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
A special thanks goes out to the staff at ThedaCare in New London and Neenah and ThedaCare Hospice for all the help and wonderful care they gave during Jerry's time there.
