James L. Frederick

January 29, 1948 — November 7, 2023

James "Jim" Lyle Frederick passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. He was born on January 29, 1948, in New London, WI, son of the late Lyle and Marie (Harman) Frederick. After graduating from Weyauwega-Fremont High School in 1966, Jim attended UW-Stevens Point and received a bachelor's in psychology with a minor in business. Jim traded in the rural farm fields of Wisconsin for the big city of Minneapolis after graduation, taking a position with Lennox Industries as a salesman. Soon after, Jim purchased the 1st love of his life, a 1964 red corvette, which he never forgot throughout the years. Then, unexpectedly, he met the 2nd love of his life Linda (Lynn) Sawatzke and they were united in marriage on August 10, 1974, in Mound, MN.

Giving the best sales pitch of his life, he convinced his new wife to move from the big city back to rural Wisconsin to start a family. Their family grew to include their three boys: Brady, Ty, and Jake. Jim had many jobs over the years. He was a salesman, realtor, auctioneer, business manager and handyman. He frequently traveled for work and loved coming home to his family. He spent a lot of time with his boys; teaching them to rollerblade, waterski, snow ski, fish, golf, and duck and deer hunt. He was a devoted father and extremely proud of his boys. They were his greatest accomplishment. The family spent many summers in Crosslake, MN, which to this day holds a special place in his heart. Jim also was lucky enough to have a 4th son, Sergio Gonzales, who was an exchange student from Costa Rica who lived with them during his boys' high school years.

Jim was a man of simple needs with a complex mind. He was adored by his family who were always his top priority. He could sit and talk for hours about life or sit quietly in his deer stand with a front row seat to nature's beauty. He was able to build his retirement home on the land where he spent his childhood years hunting. This is where his presence will always be felt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Marie (Harman) Frederick and brother, Johnny. Jim is mourned in passing by his loving wife of 49 years, Lynn Frederick; four sons: Brady (Brittany) Frederick, Ty (Jenny) Frederick, Jake (Melissa) Frederick, Sergio (Krysia) Gonzales; 10 grandchildren: Jack (19), Kaia (13), Camden (12), Fiona (5), Ada (4), twins Lyle and Nora (1) Frederick, Mariana (19), Jimena (17) and Camila (15) Gonzales. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.

A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in his name.
