John F. Flynn

January 18, 1944 — May 11, 2025

John Franklin "Jack" Flynn, age 81, passed away on May 11, 2025, in Ogdensburg, Wisconsin. Born on January 18, 1944, in Manawa, Wisconsin, Jack lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication to his work, deep connections with family and friends, and an enduring sense of humor that brought joy to those around him.

Jack spent 35 years working full-time as a steelworker at Lyon Metal Products, where he also served as President of his Local Union with the United Steel Workers of America. His leadership and commitment to his fellow workers were a source of pride throughout his career. In addition to his work in the steel industry, Jack held several part-time roles that reflected his strong work ethic and community spirit. He worked as a security guard at Mercy Medical Center, managed apartment buildings, and was an active member of the 3rd Ward Club.

Later in life, Jack returned to Wisconsin where he continued to serve others as an Activity Director at the King Wisconsin Veterans Home. He also drove a local school bus-roles that allowed him to stay connected with people of all ages and share his warmth and humor.

Jack had a zest for life that was evident in everything he did. He loved making family and friends laugh and found joy in simple pleasures. Whether riding his Harley through scenic routes, golfing with buddies, hunting or fishing in the great outdoors, or traveling to new places, Jack embraced every opportunity for adventure. He was an avid card player who enjoyed Texas Hold'em and poker nights with friends. Cribbage and board games were also among his favorite pastimes.

A true connoisseur of local flavor, Jack delighted in discovering new eateries and sharing meals with loved ones. Visiting family and friends was always a priority for him-he cherished these moments deeply.

Jack shared a special bond with Beverly A. Flynn - his previous wife and mother of his children - with whom he lived, loved, and laughed together again over the last 18 years.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughters: Tammy M. Flynn and Kim M. Flynn (Patrick Jarozewski); grandsons: Jeremy A.G. Becker and Joshua J. Flynn; great-grandchildren: Zachery Becker, Zayana Becker, and Zebadiah Becker; brother: Donald Flynn (Jeanne); as well as many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

Jack was preceded in death by his father Harold E. "Mickey" Flynn; mother Pauline O. Sharp; grandson Zachary C. Grimmer; and brother James H. Flynn.

May John Franklin "Jack" Flynn's memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire laughter, love, and resilience in their lives.
