John P. Spiegelberg

December 26, 1920 — February 10, 2007

Age 86, of Weyauwega, died Saturday February 10, 2007 at Appleton Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born on December 26, 1920 in the Town of Dale, the son of the late Ludwig and Emilie (Bigalke) Spiegelberg. On December 6, 1941, he married Lorena Elandt. She preceded him in death on February 5, 2004. He was confirmed and was a life-long member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Baldwins Mill. John served as a church council member for over 20 years and served as the church president. He also served as clerk of Baldwins Mill School District for many years. John sold Clay equipment and Rib Stave Silos. He was a life-long dairy farmer and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping. He was proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his children: Karen Buchholz, Omro; Cheryl (David) Lohr, Milwaukee; Sharon (Thomas) Mangert, Waupaca; Paul Spiegelberg, Weyauwega; four grandchildren: Allen (Margie) Buchholz, Thomas (Michelle) Buchholz, Christina (Josh) Pierce, and Cathlene Spiegelberg and her special friend Ross Dailey; three great-grandchildren: Hannah, Abby, and Timothy Buchholz; two brothers: Harold (Hattie) Spiegelberg, Weyauwega; Carl Spiegelberg, Manawa; and one sister: Ruth Montgomery, Weyauwega; four sister-in-laws: Ardyce Schroeder, Weyauwega; Linda Loss, Weyauwega; Leona Backer, Oshkosh; Marian Elandt. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jeanette and Lorine; also a brother Louis; and a son-in-law John Buchholz. The funeral for John will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Baldwins Mill with Rev. Barry Hoerz officiating. Burial will be in Baldwins Mill cemetery in the spring. Friends may call at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Weyauwega on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund may be given to the charity of your choice. The family expresses a very special thank-you to the I.C.U. and Respiratory Care staff at Appleton Medical Center for their love and care of John.
