Louis E. Janke

age 87, of the Town of Union, left to be with his Savior Sunday May 18, 2008. He was born April 7, 1921 in the Town of Union, Waupaca County, son of the late F. Louis and Alma (Heideman) Janke. On November 16, 1946 he married Mildred Bestul. Louis farmed in the Town of Union his entire life. He was a life long member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Symco where he was a member of the Men's Club and served as an elder. Louis dedicated many years to his community. He was a member of the Manawa Rural Fire Board for 29 years. He was a member and former Chief of the Union Fire Department. He served as clerk of the Town of Union for 22 years. He was a member of the Symco School Board. When physically able he enjoyed playing baseball, dart ball, fly fishing and hunting. Louis is survived by his wife of 61 years: Mildred; two daughters: Kay (Dennis) Peterson, Iola and children Bradley Glocke and Paula (Rob) Spindler; Marcia (Carson) Ferg, Manawa and children Michelle (Chris) Widolff and Melinda (Chad) McClellan; a son: Brian (Diane) Janke, Town of Union and children Kimberly, Brent and Brandon; great grandchildren: McKenzie Widolff, Gavin and Chase McClellan; three brothers: Leo (Rozelle) Janke, Ogdensburg; Robert (Pat) Janke, Iola, Henry (Myrene) Janke, Clintonville; a sister: Nora (Leland) Krueger, Marion; a brother-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Benjamin and a sister, Adeline. The Christian funeral service for Louis will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday May 22, 2008 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Symco with Rev. Jeffrey Smiles officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Symco. Relatives and friends may call at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Manawa from 4:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and at the Church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in Louis name.
