Margaret Lois Fahser, 95 of Manawa, was called to her heavenly home on June 3, 2025. Margaret was born on July 26, 1929, daughter of the late Frank and Martha Dretke-Schefelker and baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Margaret attended Green Valley School through 7th grade, went to St. Paul's Lutheran School for 8th grade and was confirmed in 1943. She graduated in 1947 from Little Wolf High School.
Margaret worked a few places after high school, with the longest being at Gehrke's Hardware Store, then office work at the Lindsay Lumber Company.
On May 21, 1949 Margaret was married to Kenneth Fahser for 68 years until Ken's passing, on June 2, 2017. They lived on the Fahser family farm between Manawa and Symco for 34 years. Margaret worked along side Ken helping with the cows and getting crops in. She also raised chickens and sold eggs. They always had a big garden and Margaret did lots of canning.
In 1983 they sold the farm and built a new home on a lot next to the Manawa Mill Pond.
Margaret's three grandchildren kept her busy, enjoying every minute with them, She was able to attend many of their school activities, graduations from high school, college, and their weddings.
Margaret belonged to St. Paul's Ladies Aid and also helped with the church quilters.
Margaret is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Joy (Gene) Griffin; 3 grandchildren: Eric (Libby) Griffin, Mark (Jamie) Griffin, Lisa (Mark) Anderson; 5 great-grandchildren: Grace, Evan and Emerald Griffin, Emma and Layla Anderson; sister-in-law, Rita Schefelker. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Beside her parents, and husband, Magaret was preceded in death by a daughter, Jill Fahser; 2 brothers: Everett Schefelker and Harold (Ruth) Schefelker; sister, Lorraine (Lawrence) Hergert; brother-in-law, Marvin (Grace) Fahser.
The funeral service for Margaret will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa with Rev. Wayne Schwanke officiating. Burial will be in Little Wolf Cemetery, Town of Little Wolf. A visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
Margaret lived at the Manawa Community Living Center for almost 6 years. She had many wonderful nurses and CNA's care for her - former and present. She was referred to as "Miss Margaret" by many. Thank you to all who gave her wonderful care.
Also thank you to the ThedaCare Hospice team who were so kind the last couple weeks.
