Marian J. Baker, age 86 of Appleton, formerly of Manawa, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025. She was born on September 3, 1938 in Symco, WI; daughter of the late Herbert G. and Mabel M. (Krueger) Fietzer.
She graduated from Little Wolf High School. After high school, she went to work at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Milwaukee, WI. It was in Milwaukee that she met her future husband, Clarence "Ed" Baker. Ed was serving in the US Navy. They were married on May 16, 1959 at St. Marks Lutheran Church in Symco. After a short honeymoon, Ed returned to the ship and Marian returned to work at Northwestern Mutual. When the ship returned, Ed and Marian set up housekeeping in Norton, MA. After Ed was discharged from the Navy, they moved to Doylestown, PA where Delaware Valley College is located so Ed could finish his college degree. After graduation, they returned to Manawa, WI where they farmed. In 1972 they moved to Greenville, WI and Marian worked the next 25 years as a Medical Secretary/Lab Office Supervisor at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center in Neenah, WI. Marian retired in 1997.
She and Ed traveled extensively in the years prior to Ed's death in 2010. Marian enjoyed 25 years wintering in the Rio Grande Valley, South Texas. Marian enjoyed her church in Greenville, WI and Alamo, TX, time with her family and friends, reading, playing cards, and life in general.
Marian is survived by her three children: Nadine Louise (Jim) Johnson, San Antonio, TX; Lucy Carrie (Jim) Golgart, Minnesota; Wendy Jane Tyler, New Berlin, WI; six grandchildren: James (Kristin) Golgart, Benjamin (Jessalyn) Golgart, Faith (Alan) Lowry, Jimmy Johnson, Eddye (Justin) Bucholz, and Holly (Jake) Agathen; ten great grandchildren with the 11th on the way; brother, Larry (Margaret) Fietzer; brother-in-law, Ken Genskow. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; her parents, Herbert G. and Mabel M Fietzer; her sister, Jannice Goddard; brother-in-law, Paul Goddard; and sister, Beverly Genskow.
The Christian Funeral Service for Marian will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Greenville (N1615 Meadowview Dr.) with Rev. Chad Starfeldt officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service on Monday from 9:00 a.m - 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Symco. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Marian to her churches or to the American Heart Association.
