Marian E. Asman

Age 89, of Manawa, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at the New London Family Medical Center. She was born on March 7, 1921 in the Town of Union, Waupaca County, daughter of the late Louis and Louise (Reek) Ferg. Marian attended Little Wolf High School, graduating with the Class of 1939. She attended what is now the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh for two years; she received her teaching certificate/license in 1941. Marian taught in country schools in the Symco/Town of Union area until 1946. On August 24, 1946 she was united in marriage to Franklin Asman at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Symco. Marian and Franklin were very active in the Waupaca County Farm Bureau until 1973. She managed the Farm Bureau food stand at the Waupaca County Fair for 20 years, and also served as secretary for the Bureau for a number of years. Marian was a gifted ceramic artist for many years until her sight failed. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa and their Ladies Aid. She is survived by a son David F. Asman; sister-in-law Elaine Ferg; nephew Mark (Barbara) Ferg and their children Andrea, Christopher and Ashley; niece Lynn (Christopher) Kraus and their children Matthew, Zachary, Nicholas and Nathaniel; cousin Alvern (Elaine) Ferg other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother Donald Ferg. The funeral service for Marian will be held on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa with Rev. Vilas Mazemke officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Symco in the spring. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service. David Asman expresses his heartfelt appreciation to Jeff, Jody, Melody, Wendy, Kim and Staff of the Manawa Community Nursing Center for their many kindnesses, compassionate professionalism and loving care and concern for Marian on days, good or bad. My heart will always be filled with respect, admiration and much affection for each and every one of them.
