Mark James Craig, a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend and hero went to his heavenly home at the age of 62 on Saturday, May 30, 2026 after a short and courageous battle with kidney cancer. Mark, also known as Chester by many, was born November 24, 1963, son of Donald Lewis and Mary Ann (Knudsen) Craig at the Waupaca Hospital. He graduated from Manawa Little Wolf High School in 1982, then went on to tech school for a degree in auto mechanics. He married Connie Kay Buch on May 25, 1991 and celebrated 35 years this year and together had one son, Dalton Jack, born on September 10, 2005.
Mark was a member of the Manawa Rural Fire Department for 42 years and served as Fire Chief for 10 of those years. He was also a member of the Union Thresherman's Club for several years and was currently vice president. He was also involved in the Symco Weekender, which is a vintage car show. Mark helped at the Valmy Thresherman's Club by Sturgeon Bay, WI for their thresheree and got them started on their first vintage car show. He liked to go and participate in things at the Northern Roundup in Gleason, WI. Mark served on many other committees around Manawa including the Snodeo, Little Wolf Walking Trail, the reviving of the Dam after the flood, and several others.
Mark worked various jobs throughout his life, including the City of Manawa, City of Appleton, hauling windmills, G-Force Trailer, Estes, and most recently OSC out of Greenville, WI where he delivered dry ice and welding supplies to various businesses in the state of Wisconsin until retiring because of his health.
His son, Dalton, and his wife, Connie, will miss the adventures they went on to different places around the United States, always traveling by vehicle so they could stop and go as they wanted as they never knew where they were going to end up for the day.
Mark was a very knowledgeable man, helping anyone he knew and who he became to know and coming up with different ideas. He had lots of stories to tell to one and all.
He is survived by his wife, Connie; son, Dalton; mother, Mary Ann; brothers: John (Sue) and Jeff (Becky); sister, Cathi; mother and father-in-law, Frank (Janice) Buch; sister-in-law, Faye Buch; brothers-in-law: Kurt and Kevin (Christal); nieces and nephews: Katie, Dan (Rio), Colton (Emily), Carissa, Cassidy (Evan), Brady (Kellynn), Ashley, Emily, and Riley. He is further survived by other relatives and many, many friends.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Donald; sister-in-law, Julie; niece, Relsey; a best friend, Keith "Curly" Much; grandparents: Steward (Lois) Craig, and Wayne (Evelyn) Knudsen; step grandfather, Donald Shade; and many other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Cancer Center of Appleton, Theda Clark Hospital in Neenah and AMC Hospital Appleton, Greentree in Clintonville, and ThedaCare Hospice for all their generous support and care for Mark's needs.
