Ss Peter & Paul Catholic Church
Starts at 11:30 am (Central time)
Mary Martha Kolz, age 86, of Weyauwega, passed away peacefully at God's chosen time on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton.
Mary was born in Amherst, Wisconsin, on June 11, 1939, the daughter of the late Nick and Eleanor (Shulfer) Trzebiatowski. She attended Fancher Catholic Grade School and graduated from Amherst High School. In 1958 she married Norbert Kolz, and together they made their home in Weyauwega with their six children. In the late 1970's they divorced and in 1979 Mary married Dennis Neubauer. Although their marriage later ended, Dennis remained a close friend throughout the years.
Mary's Catholic faith was central to her life and was something she held deeply in her heart. Mary found joy in life's simple pleasures like reading a good book, shopping trips to Appleton, and going out for dinner (especially Friday night fish with an Old Fashioned). Mary lived in Weyauwega all of her adult life. One of her favorite traditions was watching Weyauwega come alive with the Waupaca County Fair, something that always brought her happiness.
Mary had a lifelong love of birds, flowers, and gardening. She took pride in caring for her plants and gardens. Her homemade dill pickles were family favorites, and she was always sure to have fresh canned tomato juice ready for a Bloody Mary. Her hanging flower baskets at her Weyauwega Senior Living Apartment were her signature style. And when health challenges had her moving into a small apartment at Park Vista in Waupaca, Mary once again created beauty around her, keeping flowers and bird feeders outside and setting up a small "plant solarium" inside her apartment.
Mary is survived by her six children: Carmen Kolz of Albuquerque, NM; Connie Kolz of Stevens Point; Bert (Beth) Kolz of Kaukauna; Cheri (Paul) Kuske of Crandon; Dallas (Carrie) Kolz of Weyauwega; and Kris Kolz of Weyauwega.
She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Stephanie (Kelly) Juedes of Wausau; Madelyn (Alicia) Norby of Appleton; Meredith Kolz of Middleton; Kory (Jake Thomas) Howard of Crandon; Kyle (Codi) Howard of Blanchardville; Josh (Allison) Kolz of Rapid City, SD; Alexis (Cal) Fawaz of Flowery Branch, GA; Nicholas (Korey) Kolz of Neenah; and Noah and Caleb Porter of Weyauwega. Mary was further blessed with ten great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Mary is also survived by three sisters: Joan Wypch, Collette (Vern) Webster, and Kathy Stoltz; one brother, Mike (Noel) Trzebiatowski. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews and by her friend, Dennis Neubauer.
Mary was preceded in death by her children's father, Norbert Kolz; her brothers: Irvin, Eddie, and Lloyd Trzebiatowski; her sister, Roseann Robinson; sister-in-law, Delores Trzebiatowski; and brothers-in-law: Ernie Robinson, Jim Wypch, and Dave Stoltz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Weyauwega with Fr. Kris Mekala officiating. A luncheon at the church will follow. Interment will take place at St. Mary of Mount Carmel (Fancher) Cemetery in Amherst following the luncheon. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m.
As an expression of sympathy and remembrance, Mary wished that memorial contributions be made to Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Children's Hospital of Milwaukee, or the charity of your choice. Please, no flowers.
Mary's family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the staff of Park Vista Assisted Living, Waupaca, and ThedaCare Hospice, Appleton. Your kindness, care and compassion with Mom will always be remembered.
