Merle D. Gunderson, age 71, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Greentree Health and Rehabilitation in Clintonville. Merle was born on September 16, 1952 to Marie and Earl Gunderson and spent most of his life in the Manawa/Clintonville area.
Merle is survived by three children: Shannon, Cassidy, and Ryan Gunderson; 5 siblings: Kay (Larry) Rekoske, Daisy Gunderson, Helen (Ralph) Nabbefeld, all of Appleton, Jack (Donna) Gunderson of Ogdensberg, and Edna (Jerry) Van Eyck of Weyauwega. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Merle was predeceased by his parents, his sister Mary Gunderson, and brother David Gunderson.
Merle enjoyed hobbies of shooting pool, bow hunting for deer, and fishing in all seasons. Merle enjoyed talking about his hunting adventures and his deer mounts. Growing up, Merle was always inventing things, like rides made of a wagon wheel and a barrel, a go-cart made out of the lawn mower, and creating tunnels in the hay during hay season. Merle graduated from Manawa High School and then moved to Clintonville, where he purchased his home and married/divorced.
There will not be a formal service, as Merle did not wish for one. Please make a donation to the Alzheimer's Foundation in lieu of flowers. The family would like to extend special thanks to the Greentree Staff and Heartland Hospice for their care of Merle.
