Mike Murphy, age 81, of Fremont, was called safely home to the arms of his Lord on Sunday October 1, 2023. Mike was born in Chicago on November 28, 1941, to the late John and Alice (Dobbert) Murphy.
Mike went to St. Peter's Lutheran School in Weyauwega and graduated from Weyauwega High School in 1959. He attended UW-Oshkosh for 1.5 years. He married Carol Maierhafer at Hope United Church in Fremont on April 15, 1961.
Mike retired from Noffke Lumber in 2009. He was passionate about the Packers and loved to read. He enjoyed pheasant hunting when he was younger with his brothers, and deer hunting with his brothers, brothers-in-law, and nephews.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carol Murphy of Fremont; 3 daughters: Susan (Rob) Gorski, Debra Pate, Mary (Mark) Hudak; grandson, Zachary (Emily) Pate; sister, Karen (Lyle) Reiter; sisters-in-law, Karen Murphy, Carolyn Maierhafer; brother-in-law, Leon (Carol) Maierhafer. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbors, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alice Murphy; Carol's parents, Henry and Audrey Maierhafer; brothers, John and Roger Murphy; brother-in-law, Melvin Maierhafer.
A Memorial Service for Mike will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 11:30 AM at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Weyauwega with Rev. Aaron Kristopeit officiating. A gathering of family and friends will take place at the church on Friday from 9:30 - 11:15 AM. A luncheon will follow immediately after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church.
The family would like to thank Pastor Aaron Kristopeit, ThedaCare Hospice, Susan and Trisha and the rest of the Fremont area EMT's for their care and concern of Mike.
