Muriel O. Blink

Muriel O. Blink passed away on February 19, 2013, at Orchard Hills Assisted Living, Eau Claire, at the age of 100. She was born in Manawa on November 18, 1912, daughter of the late Homer and Lydia (Manthe) Baldwin. She graduated from Little Wolf High School in Manawa with the class of 1930. She was asked to be prom queen both her junior and senior years of school. On June 13, 1933 she married Donald (Buck) Blink in New London. Donald passed away in 1987. Muriel and Donald lived in Oshkosh where they raised their family and later moved to Appleton where Donald's business was located. They were the founders of Tri-County Distributing in Appleton and they were in business over 45 years. Muriel and Donald enjoyed their cottages in Minocqua and Mercer. They traveled to Alaska and Hawaii and Mexico. Muriel caught a Marlin on their deep sea fishing venture in Mexico. They wintered in Texas, Arizona and Florida over the years. Muriel was active in Christian Mothers at St. Vincent's Parish in Oshkosh, volunteered at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Appleton, delivered meals on wheels in Mercer and enjoyed the Mercer Senior Center. She also enjoyed growing flowers, playing cards, word search, going to the casino where she would occasionally win big. She also crocheted many afghans for her extended family. She is survived by her children: Donald (Christie) Blink, Eau Claire; Jerome (Joyce) Blink, Bradenton, FL; Sandra Krueger, De Pere; Roger (Bonnie) Blink, Winneconne; grandchildren: Jeffrey Blink, Green Bay; Brian (Laurie) Blink, Antigo; David Blink, Little Chute; Julie (Patrick) Brady, St. Charles, IL; Benjamin Blink, Washington D.C.; Teri (Rod) Parsons, Weston; Tracy (Dan) Fabry, Chapin, SC; Lisa Blink and special friend Rick Baeseman, Edgar; Todd (Brenda) Blink, Green Bay; step-grandchildren: Adam (Sony) Ahrens, Oshkosh; Tim (Casey) Ahrens, Winneconne; 18 great-grandchildren and 2 step great-grandchildren; sisters: Marian Kroll, Eagle River; Justine Emnott, Sheboygan; sisters-in-law: Elsie Baldwin, Richland Center; Claire Baldwin, Bradenton Beach, FL; Lila Blink, Virginia; also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Muriel was preceded in death by her mother and father, husband Donald, grandson Joel Blink, son-in-law Donald C. Krueger, brothers Earl (Loretta) Baldwin, Victor Baldwin, Robert Baldwin; sisters Ethel Baldwin, Audrey (Frank) Peluso, Ruth (Robert) Ross; brothers-in-law Frank Kroll and Jack Emnott. Sisters and brothers-in-law: Mary (Erie) Krull, Mable (Walter) Plamann, Earl (Mildred) Blink, Glen (Eleanor) Blink, Leo (Evelyn) Blink, Walter Blink, Paul Blink, Wilber Blink, Ralph Blink, Adrian Blink and LeRoy Blink. The funeral service for Muriel will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at noon at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Manawa with Fr. Paul Vanden Hogan officiating. Burial will be in Little Wolf Cemetery in the Town of Little Wolf. A visitation for Muriel will be held directly at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
