Nancy A. Gorell, age 72, of Weyauwega, was called to her heavenly home on Thursday, July 10, 2025. She was born in Appleton on October 15, 1952, daughter of the late Harry and Wilma (Schiefelbein) Selig. A cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Nancy's legacy is a testament to the beauty of a life anchored in faith, love and helping others.
Nancy attended Zion Lutheran Grade School and graduated from Appleton West High School in 1970. On May 27, 1989, Nancy was united in marriage to Daniel Gorell and they celebrated 36 years together. She worked for Wisconsin Electric Power Company (WE Energies) in Appleton for 24 years and then held various office positions after that. When Dan and Nancy retired in 2009, they moved to the Weyauwega area.
Faith was a core part of Nancy's life. She had been on the planning team for several years with the Christian Women's Club, attending and leading many Bible studies. One of her most cherished memories was praying the Sinner's Prayer at a Christian Women's dinner on April 27, 1992, and realizing it is about a personal relationship. A phrase that she lived by and passed down to her family was, "We are blessed to be a blessing to others." Nancy was a member at St. John's Lutheran Church in Weyauwega.
Nancy enjoyed traveling with Dan and together they were able to see many different parts of the world including Israel, Europe, Alaska, Hawaii, and many years of cruises. They loved being able to bring their children and grandchildren along with them.
She is survived by her husband, Dan; children: Kyle Nickasch, Tori (Ray) Arpad-Cotta, and Amber Juarez; grandchildren: Natashia, Marissa, April, Danny, Diana, Francesca, Obi, and Linka; and 7 great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Vanessa Bloomer; sister, Joan Pearson; brother, Jerry Selig.
The Christian Memorial Service to honor Nancy's life will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Dahlke Life Celebration Center in Weyauwega with Rev. Rich Engle officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday prior to the service from 9:00 - 10:45 a.m. both at the Dahlke Life Celebration Center. Entombment of cremains will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park Cemetery. A lunch will follow the service in the Weyauwega Community Center.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the Theda Care Hospice staff for the excellent care they provided to Nancy.
