Peter Leslie Ziebell, age 64 of Manawa, WI, passed away suddenly on Wednesday July 24, 2024, at St. Luke's Hospital, Milwaukee. He was born November 14, 1959, in Green Bay to John and Margaret (Peggy) Ziebell.
Pete graduated from Green Bay West High School in 1978 and went on to serve his country in the US Army from 1979 - 1982 where he earned the following: Sharpshooter Qualification Badge (M-16), Drivers Badge, Humanitarian Service Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and Army Service Ribbon. He then entered the Army Reserve.
In his younger years, he enjoyed racing motorcycles and racing his beloved AMX ie. the Kenosha Konnection, hunting, and fishing.
His work career after the military took him to Naniot Standard, Declene Truck Repair, Faskell's Gun Shop, K-Mart, Kolosso Toyoto, Stumpf Ford, Temperature Controls, Faskell's Gun Shop as owner, Waupaca Trucking, to Manawa Heating LLC.
He was a larger than life staple in the Manawa Community, from owning Faskell's Gun Shop alongside his wife, President of Central Wisconsin Skeet League (CWSL), Board of Director of Wisconsin Skeet Shooting Assoc (WSSA), joining the Manawa Lions Club January 1993, becoming the Mid-Western Rodeo Chairman in 2004, PRCA Great Lakes Circuit Director, purchasing Manawa Heating LLC in 2006, Manawa High School Rodeo Chairman 2019, and President of the Manawa Lions Club on 4 separate occasions.
Pete received the John Justin Committee Man of the Year Award, Melvin Jones Award, Ray Hemple Award, Internal President's Certificate of Appreciation, and several Justin Best Footing Awards.
While Pete was a community man, his true passion was his family, where they spent time traveling to skeet shoots to the surrounding states and competing at the World Skeet Shoot in San Antino, TX. His love for shooting was taken over by his newfound love of Rodeo when Pete purchased his first horse, Peppy, and started roping. Shortly after that, he lost his horse to his daughter Rachel.
Pete was not only a husband and father, but an outstanding coach to Rachel when she got into barrel racing and eventually team roping with her horse Dalton ie. Pete's rope horse. Pete hauled Rachel everywhere, even to Jackson, Mississippi for the NBHA Youth World to compete for a total of less than 60 seconds 3 runs.
Pete's last 3 years were what he called his favorite because he got to rope in the PRCA with his daughter Rachel, the father daughter duo as some referred to them as.
One of the most exciting parts of his life was when he became a grandpa (PAPA) to Leslie and Regan. He loved watching them grow and take ownership of his horses.
Pete's Moto was God, Country, and the Manawa Lions.
