Ruth H. Suehs

Age 74, of Manawa, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday June, 3 2008 at Appleton Medical Center following a short illness. She was born on February 18, 1934 in Iola, daughter of the late Melvin & Laura (Stamsta) Johanson. Ruth graduated from Iola High School in 1952. She worked at the Iola Dairy Bar and Crystal's Café, then came to work at A. Sturm & Sons where she met and married Arthur Suehs on June 22, 1957 at Our Savior Lutheran church in Iola. He preceded her in death on June 8, 2005. After raising her family, she returned to A. Sturm & Sons. She was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa. She also served as a 4-H Leader for many years. The Suehs family has been very involved promoting sheep and the sheep industry for many years. Ruth was very proud of watching her children and grandchildren become involved in the sheep project and showing sheep. Antique tractors became a big part of her life as she watched and supported Art and their families collect, restore and pull tractors. She is survived by her children: Greg (Michelle) Suehs, Lonedell, Missouri; Brian (Diana) Suehs, Manawa; Mark (Kay) Suehs, Manawa; Randy (Sue) Suehs, Manawa; Lori Suehs and special friend Rick Peterson, Manawa; 10 grandchildren: Lindsey and Devon Suehs, Andrew Suehs, Katie (Tim) Schneiderwendt, Nicole (Luke) Seeger, Brandon Suehs, Shauna Suehs; Ashley and Alissa Suehs, and Austin Peterson; 3 great-grandchildren: Aubrie and Emrey Seeger, Christiana Suehs; a sister: Rosemarie (Arlyn) Peterson, Nelsonville; 2 brothers-in-law: Victor (Fern) Suehs, Hillsboro, Missouri; Bud (Audrey) Suehs, Manawa; a sister-in-law: Irene Sarna, Manawa. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by mother and father-in-law Gust and Anna Suehs, 2 brothers-in-law – Lester Suehs and Ed Sarna; also a sister-in-law Mavis Suehs. The funeral service for Ruth will be held on Friday, June 6, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa with Rev. Vilas Mazemke officiating. Burial will be in Little Creek Cemetery in the Town of Little Wolf. Friends may call at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Manawa on Thursday, June 5, 2008 from 4-8 p.m. and also on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
