Sylvia E. Glocke

October 24, 1919 — August 29, 2007

Sylvia Elizabeth Glocke, age 87, of Manawa passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at Green Tree Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clintonville. She was born October 24, 1919 in Bear Creek, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Forest and Mabel (Thorn) Williams. Upon completion of high school at Bear Creek, she attended Appleton Business School. Sylvia came to Manawa to take a position at the Farmers State Bank. It was here she met and later married Harold Glocke June 6, 1942. They farmed together for many years. Later she worked as the cook at St. Paul's Lutheran School. Mom greatly enjoyed baking, playing cards, gardening, following the Brewers and just generally caring for her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Duane (Carol) Glocke, Manawa; Dan (Jill) Glocke, Berlin; Mary Glocke, Minocqua. She was blessed with five grandsons: Brian Glocke, Mike Glocke, Jeremy (Teresa) Glocke, Jason Glocke, and Josh (Steph) Glocke. Her blessings were further increased by two great grandchildren, Jacob Peterson and Sylvia Rose Glocke. She was preceded in death by her parents, Forest and Mabel Williams and husband, Harold Glocke. "Do not be afraid that your life will end. Be afraid that it will never begin." We are grateful for the richness and fullness of Mom's life and wish her the blessings that eternal life will bring…peace, joy, and the assurance of salvation. The Christian funeral service for Sylvia will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday September 1, 2007 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Manawa with Rev. Wally Waite officiating. Burial will be in the Little Wolf Cemetery, Manawa. Relatives and friends may call directly at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
