It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Terry Gene Johnson, 50, of Manawa, Wisconsin, who left us unexpectedly in an accident on Thursday, August 7, 2025. He was born on April 10, 1975, in Appleton, son of Gene and Helen (Voeks) Johnson. Terry was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Terry was known for his big smile and witty personality. He loved his wife, Tammy, this past year they celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary with a trip to Kauai, Hawaii; he cherished their three daughters, Samantha, Chloe and Grace, more than anything in the world. He was the kind of father who would drive three hours just check the oil in his daughter's car - always there to lend a helping hand or share a laugh. He looked forward to walking his daughters down the aisle and dreamed of a future filled with travel and a more relaxed life in retirement.
Terry graduated from Hortonville High School in 1993. He proudly served in the U.S. Army National Guard for eight years. Professionally, Terry worked in the blasting industry over 30 years, most recently as an explosives engineer for Falcon Drilling and Blasting, where he utilized his keen intellect and skills. Outside of work, he found joy in the simple things: cooking up his infamous "mix ups" from leftover ingredients, chipping golf balls with friends, or tossing the frisbee with his loyal dog, Molly, who adored him unconditionally. Terry had a love for basketball and coaching, giving his all to the girls he mentored.
Terry was also well known for his sense of humor - always ready with a joke or a quick comment, and loved sharing his favorite sayings like "living the dream," "negative ghost rider," "okay boss" and "10-4." He was a generous spirit who would do anything for anyone, no matter what.
Terry is survived by his wife, Tammy; three daughters: Samantha (fiancé Jason Knops) Johnson, Chloe (fiancé Greg Schmidt) Johnson, Grace Johnson; mother, Helen Johnson; two sisters: Jodie (Tom) Wynboom, Rhonda (Sonny) Butler; in-laws, Ray and Judy Much; sisters-in-law: Cindy (fiancé Shane Mohnen) Much, Shawn (Jeremy) Buchholz, Kristy (Kevin) Levezow and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gene Johnson; his brother, Kevin Johnson; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and special friend, Donald Buman.
A Memorial Service for Terry will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Symco with Rev. Jeffrey Smiles officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the church and on Friday prior to the service from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to his wife, Tammy, to be shared with a yet to be determined memorial. Following the service, everyone is invited to continue to celebrate Terry's life at his home for a luncheon.
In memory of Terry, the family asks you to share your favorite stories of Terry, raise a glass of your favorite drink in his honor, or enjoy some lightly salted potato chips and dip - his personal favorite! He will be missed deeply but remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
