With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Timothy John Schultz of Junction City, WI. He died unexpectedly on Thursday, October 23, at the age of 64. Tim was born in New London, WI on May 1, 1961, the son of Mary (Van Epps) and the late Duane Schultz. Growing up in Weyauwega, his childhood was filled with happy moments outdoors - fishing, hunting, and walking the woods with his Dad; spending time with his grandparents at the VanEpps orchard, and out at the Schultz farm in Ogdensburg where he learned the spirit of community and volunteerism alongside his family. Those early years instilled a love of the outdoors and a commitment to community that he carried with him his entire life.
He graduated from Weyauwega-Fremont High School in Weyauwega, WI. In between shenanigans he worked at Sanger Pharmacy, Benson Corporation, and Star Dairy. He went on to graduate from Fox Valley Technical College in Police Science and Criminal Justice and Carroll College majoring in Communications and Business.
He met his future bride over a bowl of chili at the UW River Falls cafeteria in 1980. He tried to teach her poker, the one and only time she played she won big - landing Tim's heart. Tim and Connie (Buechel) were married on July 3, 1983 and spent 42 years of marriage navigating life and love together, not nearly enough. They resided in Weyauwega for a short time, moved to North Carolina, and followed their hearts home to Wisconsin where their sons were born. They lived in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Waterloo, and Stratford; landing in Junction City where they most recently worked together building a home for their retirement.
Tim was a hard worker who wore many hats throughout his career: Electronics at Sanger and JC Penny, making cheese, managing several convenience stores for Scott Oil, and long term in the beverage industry. The majority of his career was spent as the Sales Manager at 7Up/Dr. Pepper in Watertown where he was a board member of the Wisconsin Beverage Association, serving 2 terms each as Vice President and President. He lobbied on the state and federal level for many issues, but was particularly proud of working for wellness and healthy choices for our schools.
Tim was that guy who was always willing to help - anyone, anytime. He believed in supporting his community, and served local Methodist Churches in Waterloo and Marshall in many leadership roles, including chairperson of the church councils and a Certified Lay Speaker. He spent decades as a member and past president of the Waterloo and the Marshall Lions Clubs, member and commissioner of the Waterloo Parks Commission and Town of Portland Plan Commission, and for 20 years was a member of the Waterloo School Board where he served as President, Vice President, Director, and Treasurer.
Tim's children were at the heart of everything he did, he wanted their world to be a better place. To him that started with fun, love of the game, and most importantly camaraderie. To be in their moments he coached youth baseball for 20 years (T-ball through Teener), youth flag and tackle football and youth basketball. He loved traveling with the boys to all of their events, and on family vacations throughout the US. His greatest joy was the time he spent with them, watching them grow and develop into the young men they are today.
Tim will be profoundly missed by his wife, Connie; sons: Dane Schultz (Shelby Peterson), Trevor Schultz, and Liam Schultz; and his adored granddaughter, June Schultz. He leaves behind his mother: Mary Schultz; brother: David (Allison) Schultz; sister: Patty (Paul) Kostrzewa; father-in-law: Tom Buechel; brother-in law: Mark Buechel; sisters-in-law: Lisa (Dale) LaCoursiere and Kathy Whitbeck, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His treasured shadow Ellie, and grandpups Stella and Gus are lost without him.
He was preceded in death by his son: Evan Aidan John Schultz; his father: Duane (Dewey) Schultz; his mother-in-law: Judy Buechel, and his grandparents.
Tim enjoyed music, craft beer, chili, smoked BBQ, black licorice and a good donut, no vegetables allowed. His love for birds, animals of all kinds, and nature was limitless, a true animal whisperer who rivaled Snow White. Tim was a pun/dad joke master and enjoyed sharing his skills. He was an avid sports fan - cheering the Badgers, Packers, Bucks and Brewers, but none louder than his sons' teams. Above all else he loved and lived for his family - a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. Tim gave with his whole heart, he loved deeply and was deeply loved in return. We were lucky to have him, he absolutely left us wanting more.
The funeral service for Tim will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church in Weyauwega.
