Verna Radtke

February 5, 1916 — July 27, 2008

Age 92, of Weyauwega passed away Sunday July 27, 2008 at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca. She was born February 5, 1916 in the Town of Black Wolf, Winnebago County, just south of Oshkosh, WI, daughter of the late Carl and Hilda (Schnell) Abraham. Verna graduated from Weyauwega High School and attended Oshkosh Normal School. Prior to her marriage she taught in a one room school. She was known through out the area as the lady with the beautiful vegetable and flower garden on Ann Street. Many people were helped with her advice on growing plants. In her later life she became a Master Gardener and their annual plant sale was held on her property. She was a member of St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church where she did much volunteer work Verna worked on the Election Board, was a member of the Weyauwega Garden Club and the Weyauwega Homemakers Club and was involved in many other civic activities. Survivors include her three children: Jean (Bill) Morrow, Rockford, IL; Tom (Helen) Radtke,and Bob (Shirley) Radtke, both of Weyauwega; nine grandchildren: Brian Fredericksen, Sharon Fredericksen, Alan Fredericksen, Kim(Steve) Schueller, Brad (Rachel) Radtke, Lynn Radtke, Tonia (Lance) Mathews, Kevin (Sue) Radtke, Jacci (Keaven) Olson; six great grandchildren: Kendra Radtke, Brooke Cole Radtke, Alexandria and Riley Radtke, Ezekiel Fredericksen-Krisp and Erica Olson; a sister: Muriel Puls; a brother: Carl (Ken) Abraham; three sisters-in-law: Helena Abraham, Elaine Abraham, Phyllis Abraham; a brother-in-law: Gilbert Puls; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers: Harold (Jack) and Robert and a sister Lucille. The funeral service for Verna will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday July 30, 2008 at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Weyauwega with Rev. Robbin Robbert officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Weyauwega. Relatives and friends may call directly at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
