Age 97, of Manawa, passed away on December 13, 2012 at the Manawa Community Nursing Center where he had been living since 2008. Victor was born on April 7, 1915, son of the late Albert and Bertha (Patzer) Thiel in the Town of Little Wolf, where he remained a resident his entire life. As a youth, he attended St. Paul Lutheran School and graduated from Little Wolf High School in 1933. After high school, he worked for the Manawa Coop, which included roofing and carpentry work. He also was/became a farmer and continued farming his whole life in the Town of Little Wolf. On October 10, 1942, Victor married the late Mildred Vivian (Griena) Thiel, daughter of the late Peter and Ida (Moe) Griena at Scandinavia Lutheran Church in Scandinavia. In addition to farming, Victor had been the clerk of Spring Brook School and had been a rural volunteer fireman over 40 years. Victor was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and among his hobbies were hunting, fishing, trapping, and woodworking. He especially enjoyed woodworking and made many wood items, such as shelves, that he sold at craft fairs during his retirement years. Victor is survived by his three children: Donald (Diane) Thiel, Neenah; Jack Thiel, Monument, CO; Jane (Randy) Lieble, Eau Claire; his grandchildren: Dennis (Rhonda) Thiel, Cave Creek, AZ; Dean (Toni) Thiel, Neenah; Darren Thiel, Madison; Jason (Dana) Lieble, Eau Claire; Sara Jane Lieble, Eau Claire; and many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his wife, Victor was preceded in death by a brother Marlin Thiel, sister Margaret Johnson, sisters-in-law Gladys Thiel, Grace Anderson, Florence Griena; brothers-in-law Harry Johnson, Sidney Griena and Milo Anderson. The funeral service for Victor will be held on Monday, December 17, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa with Rev. Vilas Mazemke officiating. Burial will be in Little Wolf Cemetery in the Town of Little Wolf. A visitation for Victor will be held on Sunday, December 16, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Manawa and also at the church on Monday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Steven Goedderz and the entire staff at the Manawa Community Nursing Center for their care and concern of Victor.
